Our hostel was located over the road from the bus terminal, so we headed straight for our dorm to have a shower. After dinner in the cafe next door we took a walk around the town, which is hot and surrounded by jungle, finally locating a bank.
The next morning we bought supplies and got on the local bus to the Cataratas (Falls) Park, a mini version of Centerparcs complete with a Sheraton Hotel and train running through it. It cost ARG$100 per person for general entry to the whole park and then we booked the 'Nautical Experience' later that afternoon. http://www.iguazuargentina.com/english)
Firstly we took two trains (a bit like the one at Trago Mills!) up to the top of the Argentine side of the Falls. After a 20 minute walk on boardwalks across the river above the falls we arrived at the viewpoint to look down 'The Devils Throat'. It really is spectacular, the thundering noise, the eerie mist, rainbows and birds flying in and out of the canyon, like something out of jurassic park!
Next train back and a 30 minutes to the pier for our boat adventure. We had read about the boat going under the falls but looking at it I never believed it – I was wrong! We had taken swimsuits but kept our shorts and shoes on expecting some spray to the torso, what we got was a complete dousing! Check out the video for a real taste of the experience. (Ed JJ - I'll upload once we get somewhere with a good internet connection! If there is an internet connection its really slow!). We then had to trudge home soaking wet but it was cool at least. On the way back we met about a thousand Coaties (racoon-like mammals) and nicknamed them "Cuties", the babies especially, I was in heaven!
Back at the hostel we had a shower and then a really nice Chinese dinner in a restaurant which could have been in Clifton
