I LOVE street performers!  We saw a load of them at the street fair in Basel, about an hour away.  here is my very favorite one.  Click it to watch the video of this cello player at the Rathaus (grea tword for court house, huh?) playing Ave Maria:

And here are a few other memorable acts that we caught as we wandered through town on a Saturday afternoon:

It is amazing to me how much the Europeans love a fair/carnival.  We keep hoping to see traditional Swiss art fair style stuff, but really its mostly a carnie show.   The carnie rides are very simillar to what we would generally avoid going to at home.  Alex did manage to swing a swan boat ride while the girls and I climbed the large church tower.  Who knew it would be terrifying enough to make him scream till they stopped the ride!?!

The tower climb was magnificent, but very scary -- most of the 275 steps were unenclosed!  glad it wasn't a windy day.  We all felt a bit scared on the way back down, but the view was well worth it!
