A whirlwind tour of Santiago
Entry 23 of 40 | show all | print this entry |

Sadly we had only one day in Santiago and I spent the first half of it doing supermarket shopping. This meant that me and Em had to cram in as much as possible in the afternoon. We decided to treat ourselves and went out to a poshish restaurant for lunch where we both had great salmon and sautéed vegetables. We then caught the funicular up San Cristobal hill which was quite fun and there were great views of the city once at the top. We walked up to the Virgin Mary statue which was quite impressive and sat listening to Christmas tunes whilst taking in the view - it seemed wrong to be hearing songs about snow in the baking heat though! We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering round the centre of the city seeing the government buildings and cathedral etc which had a distinctly European look to them.
