We drove to the bottom of Bolivia to the town of Uyuni which is on the edge of the largest salt flats in the world (it used to be a sea).
We took an overnight trip onto the salt flats and visited a salt processing plant and a hotel made in entirely of salt - even the chairs and beds!! We stopped for lunch at Fish Island which is covered in cacti, one of which is over 1000 years old!! The island was made of coral, as it used to be underwater, and there was a beautiful intact coral bridge. We walked to the top of the island and had great views over the salt flats which stretched as far as I could see - a truly amazing sight. We stayed at a hostel overnight so got to see sunset which was quite pretty and I was also able to stargaze really easily as the sky was so clear and there was very little light pollution. I've never seen so many stars! The following day we drove to an island with a really colourful and beautiful volcano. We saw some mummies (yes more mummies) and also flamingos and llamas before driving back to Uyuni.
