We'd been driving for a couple of hours (headed back to Banos) when we heard a hissing sound and had to stop as there was a rather large chunk of metal stuck in one of Moose's tyres!!   Still it gave us time to admire the beautiful countryside while some of the guys helped to change the tyre.

Our final destination in Ecuador was Cuenca, the third largest city, which
was even prettier than Quito and I was rather sad that we only had one day
there. We visited a Panama hat factory which was quite interesting. I was
very surprised at how soft the hats felt - the most expensive ones take 6
months to make and cost $1000! We wandered around the markets for a while
and saw lots of meat, including a whole pig's head, which was quite horrible!

Ness, Christine and I went in the 2 cathedrals - the old one was incredibly beautiful with lots of colours and pretty altars. We even got to go down in the crypt
where the bones of the founders of Cuenca are kept. The new cathedral
wasn't as pretty apart from some stained glass windows but it was absolutely
massive as it can hold 10,000 people. In the evening we found a great
little cocktail bar which made lovely pina coladas and had some really cheap
and good Ecuadorian food (think rice and chicken!).
