The road from Price to Green River runs across the desert floor, but off in the distance on all sides are high canyon walls. It was a classic western environment. We've edged our way as close as we're going to get to Moab, Arches National Park, and Canyonlands which is somewhat unfortunate because I would love to take a few days off and visit those areas again. I'm not too far from where that guy cut his arm off with a swiss army knife after he got trapped in a canyon
There's not a lot to do in Green River. We were supposed to go white water rafting this afternoon... but the Green River is really flooded. We rode over the river and the water was almost up to the bridge. It turns out if you're not rafting in Green RIver, there is little else to do. We got in so early (before noon) that we decided to have lunch at a biker bar called Ray's Tavern, an interesting place. There were three distinct groups of people eating in the tavern while I was having lunch (a monster delicious hamburger). The first was my hi-vis spandex clad crew that looked like they belonged more in an 80's gym than a Utah biker bar. The second group, of course, was bikers complete with chaps, Harley Davidson shirts, and lots of leather. The third group was rained out adventure junkies burrowing in their plaid and Patagonia waiting out the rain or the flood or who knows what else.
We're headed to Colorado tomorrow. I'm excited. Utah has been and still is my favorite state, but Colorado will have a nice opportunity to retake that title it lost in the 10th grade.
