Today was hard. It was *only* 73 miles, so we were into town by 2:00, but it was just a hard day. It started with a pretty serious head wind which is always discouraging. As the day wore on, the sun never really broke through the grey skies, the saddle grew more and more uncomfortable, my back hurt, my knee hurt, blah, blah, blah... it's day 7 - this was going to happen eventually.

We were on the highway all day and there was really nothing to see. Tomorrow seems to be more of the same. Winnemucca isn't a terribly exciting town either. The riding out here isn't all that enjoyable so I'm trying to find other aspects of the trip to enjoy, rather than wishing the Nevada days away. Today, the best part was the local color. We went to a pizza hut for lunch, a BBQ joint for dinner, and a diner for dessert. I enjoyed people watching at all three places, as well as spending time with the other riders.

There won't be anything to do tomorrow either, so I'll write a little more then about the people on this trip and why they're making it so much more enjoyable than I expected.

Hi Stephen, Mark and Scott, It's truly a "first hand" experience reading your blog, Stephen. The photos are wonderful...the writing is enjoyable. I LOVE the maps! Most of all, I am so impressed that you three are making this monumental journey. I'm certain your mother is also relieved that I am reading this blog...now she won't have to respond to my daily texts..."How are your guys doing?" or "Where are the guys now?" I love the ice cream blog too...I remember those glass fountain dishes with the scalloped edges. We had a place like that where I grew up in WV, called "Candyland". I don't remember any candy, but I remember the 5 cent sodas (ice cream and seltzer water). As you ride on the long, boring highway parts of the trip, do you begin to see any mirages? ... are your views hazy? I have been praying for your safety and for God's blessing on all that you see and do together. thanks for the blog!
