Where I stayed
We actually had a great ride from Vallejo to Sacramento. We rode with Jon again today - he's a really nice guy and a strong rider. The route took us through a lot of farm lands, and if it wasn't for the mountains in the background, I would have mistaken some of the straight, flat, quiet country roads for the roads just east of my home. Also, the wind was mostly behind us, which makes a huge difference. If I could hug a tailwind, I would.
We cruised for 72 miles, with a few key stops. The first was at the Jelly Belly Factory, which, to be honest, was a bit of a let down - and my expectations weren't even all that high. We took a factory tour, but no one was working because the factory was in the middle of annual maintenance so all the machines were shut down
The next stop was just after UC Davis at In-n-Out. I'm going to make some enemies here, and that's alright with me... It wasn't that great. Nor was it two days ago when I had it last. Sorry. I've had better burgers, better fries, and a better milk shake at many different places. I guess it's just not my thing. I think it's a nice restaurant; it's clean, fresh, and all that - but it just doesn't impress.
Nevertheless, it was a great day of riding. We made great progress with the tailwinds, the sun came out when we got to the hotel we spent some time in the Jacuzzi, and Steven took us to have some incredible ice cream. California is beautiful, and Sacramento is a nice city. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and in the 70's which I can't wait for. The day after that, we'll be climbing up to Lake Tahoe - where it's snowing...
