AT Holder is one name that probably rings a bell to those who have been reading my other blogs.

This blog post is dedicated to him - a memorial post of sorts, since he has left us here in Oaxaca for bigger and better adventures in Suriname (yes, that's a country.) As a serving member of the United States Peace Corps, he's preparing himself for a life of ministry initially through 2 solid years of service with a secular organization. The muddy backwaters and dense humid rainforests in Suriname are about as uncivilized as it gets (no electricity) - and for the most part - they're equally unexposed to the Gospel and the Christian way of life. It will be incredibly difficult for AT to adapt to living in world that is so much different from the world he spent his first 22 years in. He is constantly in my prayers, and I hope you'll remember him as well.

Now, for the memorial part of this post:

AT is one of the nicest, most sincere people I have ever met in my entire life. I can't begin to explain how much of an impact he's had on my life in only the three months we roomed together. He passionately loves Jesus, and as such, he's passionate about each and every person he meets. When I think of AT, I think of when Seuss' Grinch had a life changing experience, and watched his heart grow three sizes - from two sizes too small... but AT, his heart must have grown four or five sizes - and it certainly wasn't two sizes too small to begin with. He's so loving, he could probably grow the heart sizes of a few modern day grinches all on his own.

We had some really great times together. We hiked up a mountain here in Oaxaca, went camping on a mountain in Mitla, explored Mexico City for a week, worked together doing construction with Manos de Vida, traveled to Puebla together and worked as counselors at a camp, and just spent a lot of time around the house hanging out and having solid conversations (and watching the office too...)

It's not every day you come across a guy like AT. May the Lord bless this next stage in your life homeboy.

Much Love,

P.S. - Every three months, AT will be sending me a package of handwritten blog entries - then, over the next three months, I'll type them up and post them to his blog for him. www.atholder.com
