I'm sitting here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport, just got off my first flight. It was totally under-booked, and i had both seats in my row to myself (you better bet I sat sideways, with my macbook on the other tray-table, watching movies the whole time). Also, I've been timing things, and one thing that really shocked me, and seemed to put the speed of the aircraft in perspective was the fact that from the point when the wheels left the tarmac to the point when we we're flying over Cincinnati, it was on 18 minutes! As I landed here in Texas, the sun was setting over the city, and it was truly awesome to get to see it from my perspective. As we flew in, we flew over four separate airports; each time i thought we we're going to turn around and land at it, but eventually we spun around and landed at (i think) the third one. Since it was twilight, I could see clusters of three bright lights (sometimes with the one in the middle slightly higher) that distinguished dozens of high school stadiums throughout the city and the surrounding suburbs.

I hiked about a billion stairs up to catch the skytrain that runs between the different terminals... that wasn't too fun :-) However, the skytrain had big huge windows, and I got a mini tour of half the city as the sun set, while the train took a U shaped path to (quickly) hurdle me towards my next terminal.

The airport here is pretty cool, and huge, and modern. It looks like an arena, with great curved architecture and lots of glass. Also, my waiting room chair has a foot rest! (Pretty cool eh?) The only downside is that you've got to pay to use their internet! pff, everyone knows I'm too cheap to that (even though I do love checking my facebook), so I'll hopefully posting this up when I land at LAX.
