Well, things are moving right along as we continue to move across the country. Wednesday morning we were able to visit the "Rome" of Hungary, where the Roman Catholic See is, and then even cross over into Slovakia.
We learned a lot more about train travel too. Most of our trains thus far, we have started at the beginning, and ridden to the end of the line. Well, that wasn't so for this trip...and that makes a big difference. Our train from Esztergom to Gyor had one stop along the way, but we were noticing we were about 15-20 minutes behind schedule and were worried we might miss our connecting train. And as A.P. put it, as much fun as the flight delays were, we were pretty sure the Hungarian train system didn't offer food vouchers!! Anyhow, we got to the little place we were to change trains, got off, and went to find refuge from the rain inside. We noticed our connecting train was also delayed, so we thought we had plenty of time. They came over and made an announcement..but in Hungarian, so we really didn't catch the drift. We noticed the track the train was to be on, and began to make our way towards it. On the way, we saw the train approaching, but we were not worried. Well, we should have been, or at least hustling! Because, this train stopped for about 30 seconds, dropped off a couple people and let the few people ready to just jump on on, and then it was gone, with us standing with mouths wide open... Luckily, there was another train scheduled for Gyor to leave in 10 minutes...otherwise we perhaps could have been stranded for several hours! This time we were ready and waiting!
Well, these cities have been great, and we are loving every minute of this adventure...
Until next time...
