It's supposed to be Christmas today (when we get our kayaks and gear) but I've just been told that Christmas has been postponed until tomorrow. :(
I was persuaded by Karine (she is very persuasive - she may even have me speaking French before too long) to get out on the river this afternoon before dinner to practice my roll. I told her I don't have one but her and Siedsel (from Denmark) stood in the bay with me and helped turn me back up when it all went wrong. Siedsel paddles Greenlandic kayaks and can roll in many different ways, including with no hands or paddle! Anyway, I spent a long time learning to set up correctly before she would let me try a roll, which I managed once with a small amount of help from Karine. I will try again tomorrow after Christmas (when I finally have a kayak to use).
Upstream Dave is apparently here tonight and he is excellent - the whole bar should be rocking as people come from all over the place to see him. I can't wait.
