I'm on lunch break at school. We had a talk this morning about field study and this afternoon we are meeting with a local man to do a tour of Old Dublin.
I was so happy to hear from some of you all! I am getting a little homesick, as it's the end of my first week here, and yesterday over coffee some girls mentioned being lonely sometimes. It's contagious. So, to get over it, I came up with the idea of getting involved in lacrosse while I'm here. I called the commissioner of the Dublin Lacrosse organization and there's a practice tonight and a men's game tomorrow. I will stop by to introduce myself and see what the deal is. Since we have to do a "map" project (individual activity designed to delve further into life as an Irish person) I think this is what I'll do.
More about home life: I have my own room and Carmel cooks breakfast and dinner every day. She's a FABULOUS cook and I couldn't have asked for a better situation (except if there were kids around, of course). She doesn't live far from the city but the bus takes an hour to get to school in the AM so I have to get up at 8 AM - shocking, I know. Lee, OJ is available as both fresh and concentrate. Food variety is pretty big. 10% of the population is foreign - mostly Asian, Polish, and other European countries. So there's a lot of multicultral grocery stores and such. The oranges also taste SO much better. They're from Spain. More thumbnails ...
