Melbourne plane change

Plane change in Melbourne, next change will be Auckland, New Zealand.
In the meantime I find a payphone and call Optus to arrange to have my mobile phone unlocked from their network. As it has been 6 months since I signed on with them. Unfortunately no - I am about 12 hours ahead of the time that I am allowed to unlock the phone. I ask can I unlock it when I get to the Falklands? Of course! All I will need is the unlocking code which they will organise.
I try for free wireless on the laptop so I can waste some time sending a few final emails but no - you have to sign up with an provider, no good to me as I won't be back for a while.
I manage to find some newspapers lying around and read those for a bit while waiting for the flight to leave.
