We found a beautiful spot to camp just outside of Puerto Arista, past the Tortugario where the brick road continues, but has gotten so overgrown that it looks like a two-track through the jungle that eventually turn to sand and opens up to a Savanah-like beach with scrub brush and windblown trees and a few cattle, very peaceful with a nice breeze.
The somewhat inland drive around Laguna Superior and Laguna Inferior was very windy, it's probably a good thing we didn’t make it to the beach destination we attempted to find, we probably would have been sandblasted. We passed a place named La Ventosa (translates to Windy) where there’s a decent sized wind farm with hundreds of windmills, it must be windy there most of the time.
