Scuba Diving Report: Pulau Sipadan Trip #3.
Dive Sites: South Point, Turtle Cave, Hanging Coral Gardens
Dive Shop: Scuba Junkies, Semporna
Cost: RM340 Per Person (about $100 USD per person, including equipment and permit)
Today is the last day we are diving in this area. We have seen some of the most beautiful sights, and this is definitely on of our favorite dive locations in the WORLD. It is tempting to stay longer. But, our wallets are getting thinner, we are exhausted and still have many more places to visit in Asia
Similar to yesterday, our group of 10 divers was divided into two groups: Beginners (stay above 18 meters) and Advanced (can go below 18 meters). Also today, our dive master Nikki was also teaching an Advanced student in addition to leading our fun dive group. So, similar to yesterday, we went down on our first dive to about 30 meters and waited for the student and teacher to complete their excercises before we could actually visit the sites. We also learned that Nikki has never been to Sipadan before, so she was both teaching and leading a dive to sights she was not familiar with. Since this was her first time to Sipadan, Nikki picked out the dives sites based on her interests, and not based on what dive sites the paying divers were interested in...so we ended up re-visiting sites we already visited. Strike out for Scuba Junkies (warning for you fellow travellers).
Regardless - we still had a great time and enjoyed the stunning coral reefs of Sipadan. On our dives today, we saw many more White Tip Sharks, Turtles of all sizes, Barracuda, gorgeous reef fish and nudie branches
The Sites we visited were: South Point, Turtle Cave, and Hanging Coral Gardens. Each site was gorgeous and full of a variety of marine life. For details on each specific dive site, please refer to the prior journals:
