Here it is all you travel planners. The moment you have all been waiting for. Drumroll please. We are proud to present, for the first time ever...what it cost us to travel for 5 months in Central America. We hope this helps for those in the midst of planning a big trip. SHHHH do not tell everyone how cheap it is to travel or everyone may quit their jobs and do it and nothing would get done in the world.

Cheers,

Frank & Kay

The best travel advice yet!
Hey guys just wanted to thank you for posting this on TT- My mum and I are doing the same trip at the end of the year (but in 2 months, argghhh) and had hoped our budget was ok! This has proved that it was about what we expected, and the country by country breakdown is fantastic!! Hopefully we get to fit in about half of what you guys achieved, and thanks again for passing on the info!

Accommodation
Hi,
How did you find your hotels? Is it possible to simply turn up and find cheap accommodation? We are thinking of Puerto Rico mainly.
Thanks

RE: Accommodation
We found our hotels mostly by just showing up (without reservations) and checking out the rooms before committing. Some we heard from word of mouth by other travellers. Some were in the guidebook or online reviews like on Thorntree.

Thanks
