A REAL Shower at last!
Thursday April 26
After 12 days and nights of sun, snorkelling, and relaxing in the beautiful Little Corn Island, we finally decided to head back to the mainland Nicaragua to continue our adventures southward.
We originally planned on catching the morning ferry from Little Corn Island to Big Corn Island, and then the morning flight from Big Corn to Managua. However on the day before, some guys from Moskitia sailed in to visit some friends, including those working at our lodge. They spent the day drinking, dancing, and being merry drunks on the beach. After dinner, when Frank and I went to close out our tab, all of the doors were shut and the lights were out. Everyone had passed out! So, since we werenīt able to close our tab out, we ended up staying a few extra hours the next day and catching the afternoon ferry and flight.
Arriving in Managua, we caught a taxi for 100 Cordobas (about $5 US) to the bus terminal, and then a direct bus to Granada (18 Cordobas per person - about $1 US). We then made our way back to the Hotel Oasis for a much needed shower! Itīs the little things in life really. Running water - what a treat after 12 days of bucket showers and lugging a pail of salt water from the beach after using the jon!
The next morning we caught a bus down to Rivas to catch a taxi to the ferry headed over to Isla Ometepe - a volcanic island in the middle of Lake Cocibolca that is shaped like Maui.
More later!
Cheers,
Kay
