Details, details - I am trying to get all the last-minute things together, picking up all the little items we forgot, and I realized that I haven't updated all the details here yet! My bad!
So we finally made a decision on our resort about 2 weeks ago, as I was suddenly locked into my vacation dates a little more tightly than I usually am. We didn't want to miss out on having a vacation all together! We picked a little place in Akumal, far from the big cities and crazy tourists, the Akumal Beach resort. Compared to most resorts that have skinny beaches and long, narrow resorts, this place is narrow and wide, with lots of soft, white sand beachfront. The town of Akumal is also just a stroll down the beach, so we'll have plenty to keep us busy when we don't want to stay within the confines of the resort.
Mario has been reading up on the Mayan ruins in the area, so I'm guessing we'll be brushing up on our Mayan history while near places like Chichen Itza and Coba. And I have a slight knowledge of Spanish, thanks to some classes I took back in Cegep, so we`ll be good for asking directions and ordering a cerveza. All the important stuff.
Like every year, we leave on trip to some faraway exotic location, and I totally miss out on the holiday season and family vacation time. So I thought I would bring some of it with me on the trip, via my travelpod. Enjoy.
