Ben had a hockey game in Southampton on Saturday, so we all piled in the car to drive down for the day. The alarm going off at 7:30am came awful early for this chickadee, but I was at least semi-functioning anyway! In the morning we met up with a bunch of the gang for coffee at their friends' house, it was great to catch up with some of the people I hung out with over the winter, like Karen, Rachel and Jo. Bry and son Ben happened to be down for the weekend too, so it was a mini-gathering-of-the-clans! Sadly it was not complete as Ellie was away for the weekend, but it appears there may be a Christmas reunion in Vancouver this year...

Later Ange, Anna and I braved West Quay (a shopping mall) in the middle of a Saturday afternoon. All I can say is: What.Were.We.Thinking! Now, you know me, I love to shop. But this place was a mad-house! It was worst than the day before Christmas. People and strollers everywhere, and no respect for the rules of the road. If Anna hadn't been in the stroller, I would have used it as a battering ram and just started plowing people down. I figured she might get injured in the fray though, so not a good idea. I can just see trying to explain to Ben how his beautiful daughter incurred a broken arm...

Finally we gave up on the stroll casually in to every store and have a browse approach. First, strollers donīt fit in half the stores here. Apparently contrary to every mall in Canada, stay at home moms do not make up a significant portion of the malls weekly traffic here...yeah right. So who the heck is designing these things? And don't get me started on the elevators. They are at one end of the mall, so if you realize you are on the wrong floor, or god forbid need to go to the toilet, you have to hoof it back to the elevators, stand in line, then squash in like sardines for the ride. Fun fun fun! In the end we worked out a strategic battle field approach- located the target, surveyed the surrounding area, and then one of us provided back up while the other attempted the mission. We were quite successful, Ange managed to get most of what she was shopping for, and I refrained from murdering anyone. Quite a day!

Then we headed back to Karen's for coffee and a visit with a few more friends, and a chance for me to pack up the rest of the crap I was storing at their house! But all-too-soon it was time to say goodbye, and head for dinner at Lee's house with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters. By the time we got back to Caversham, everyone was well tired, but had enjoyed a lovely day (and Ben's team won too!).
