I arrived in Madrid on Tuesday night, and have spent the last couple days exploring the city. I saw the Prado Museum, Puerta del Sol, Plaza Mayor, Royal Palace and the Cathedral, Retiro Park, Cibeles fountain...lots of sightseeing! Most of the sights are in a small area, and easy to walk to. There are tons of tapas restaurants and quaint teraaces to sit and have a drink. The Prado was amazing, I am still so overwhelmed by the amazing art in Europe. Some of the more famous paintings are the Three Graces, Descent from the Cross, and Garden of Earthly Delights. You are allowed to take pictures inside, which is not very common. Anyway, I had a great day, and then went for a lovely walk in Retiro Park which is this huge green space right in the middle of town. It has a pond where you can rent paddle boats, and is a beatiful place to walk or have a picnic and read a book. Tonight we had our prep meeting, and tomorrow we head out on the bus to Pueblo Ingles!
