I had planned on leaving here on Monday, now it is Wednesday and I'm still here! Definitely leaving today though, as I have a ferry to catch in Naxos tomorrow night that only runs a couple times a week. Definitely leaving today (can you hear me convincing myself?)

The last couple days have been wonderful. On Monday, Tanya and I went to Red Beach which is about an hour's bus ride away. It was a bit of a trek from where the bus drops you off, but stunning scenery. The cliffs over the beach are red volcanic rock, there's probably not too many places like it in the world. We rented lounge chairs and an unbrella, then relaxed in the sun all afternoon! It was pretty hot, so everyone once in a while I'd jump in for a quck swim to cool off. The water is warm, but very salty compared to the ocean at home. It makes you a lot more bouyant though!

Yesterday we wandered around the shops in Oia ( I still haven't bought anything!!) and scoped out the perfect place for dinner. And I mean perfect! Rooftop patio, 360 degree view, of which 270 degrees of that are water. We could see the whole island, it was a stunning view! Oh, and did I mention we were there right at sunset? Had dinner, some wine, and visited with Tanya and Michaela. After we had finished dinner and were waiting for coffee, the power in all of Oia went out! So we sat in the dark and watched the stars for a while. Heaven on earth...

Later back at the hostel we met up with 3 guys, one was a Greek-American, one a South African living in Holland, one one from Versailles near Paris. We went out to another taverna for them to have dinner, and then to a bar for after dinner drinks. It was a very intriguing conversation, including some discussion about South African politics. Enlightening to say the least!

So, today I am up and packed, and off to the travel agent to get myself a ticket on this afternoon's ferry. Naxos, here I come...
