Show trip route
We literally hiked up a mountain! Wait until you see the pictures. For those of you that know Athens, we went to the theatre on top of Lykavitos "hill". Hundreds of stairs and then a long walk up a steep winding road, we arrived at the top. Was it worth it? Absolutely! The view was incredible. You could see the whole city in three directions. And perched atop this huge rock hill, is a church, and an open air theatre. Which of course means that it was a live production, not a film. From our seats in the theatre you could still see over the city, lit up from all the street lights. And it was still very warm, somewhere in the 20's, with a light breeze...
The show itself was great, in English with Greek subtitles projected on a monitor above. At intermission the theatre was already covered in rice, toilet paper and water, but a spontaneous water fight broke out! I don't think anyone escaped dry! It was so much fun, everyone chasing each other, laughing, screeching as they got soaked from a surprise attack. It pretty much continued through the second act. And after the finale. And a bit on the way home!
The walk back down was much easier! We said goodbye to part of the group, and five of us went off to get a souvlaki and then to a bar. Everything here gets started late, the show didn't start till after 10 pm, so I have no idea what time we finally made it home. It was really interesting visiting with Kika's friends, most have never been to Canada, and have lots of questions. Lots of information sharing!
Today I leave for Santorini on the overnight ferry. I'm thinking of staying for about 3-4 days, then on to the next Island! I should arrive in Turkey at the end of next week I think!
