Woke up early and had a wonderful breakfast buffet. We met our driver Michael at 8:30 am to head out on an all day safari. We headed south in the Mara and we seen many animals starting with a leopard. He was hanging out in a tree and could care less that there were all these safari vans below him. We were headed to the Mara River near the border of Tanzania. We went through no mans land which is the area between Kenya and Tanzania. We stopped at an area where there were park rangers, armed park rangers I might add. He took us on a short walking tour of the river, pointing out the largest crocodile I've ever seen! It looked like a Hollywood prop, it was so big! There were lots and lots of Hippos hanging out in the river. He said there was about 90 or so hippos that lived along the river that stretched about 297 kilometers. He also showed us where the great migration takes place. The earth was compacted down from all the animals crossing the river. We tipped him and then headed back to enjoy our boxed lunch of sandwiches, a piece of cold chicken, an apple, tomato, muffin, water and a juice box. Michale, our driver asked us to save anything we did not eat to give to the rangers. We drove to an area that borders another park called the Trans Mara. We crossed a small bridge and saw literally hundreds of dead Wildbeests. They died trying to cross the river in the August 2007 migration. The river was too high and flowing too fast for them to get across safely. It was quite a sight! We drove back across to give the rangers our leftovers and our driver gave one of the rangers a ride back to their post (in the middle of nowhere). On our way back to the lodge, we seen a couple of male lions in the park. They were running along and roaring, it was really cool! We got back around 3:30 and had our last dinner around 7:30 and were in bed by about 10:30pm. We have one last game drive in the morning, then it's back to Nairobi to catch our flight out.
