Got in and settled in Tuesday night. So yesterday I returned to Checkpoint Charley and this time had by passport stamped with the same stamp used during the Cold War, when passing into West Berlin.
Next I walked to the "Topography of Terror Exhibit". It is an open air museum of the old German SS headquarters, that the Russians used for interrogating, torturing of prisoners. It was supposed to be built over twenty years ago. All that was done was part of a basement wall and some stairwells and now displayer's are hanging along the basement walls. Again waled through the Jewish Memorial on my way to another one of those recent historical spots.
I was on my way to the infamous Hotel were Michael Jackson held his child out the window when once again while I am in Berlin it began to pour. So, Damn the bad luck, no picture, as I headed for cover, just so happened to be the same building as the last time I was in Berlin!
Today, I went to the East Wall Gallery, where Artist, anyone with a paint can or a permanent marker can add to the wall. While there, I discovered in an opening in the wall an entry to several beaches along the river. So... after a short trip back to the hostel, I spent the rest of the day there. There was an outside cafe, where around 6PM they started barbecuing food for sale. A DJ started up some music soon after.
Tomorrow, it is off to Prague!!
