Day 81-84 (28th-31st August):
After a day of rest we spent our last few days in Huraz doing more adventure activities. First up was a spot of rock climbing with a Belgian rock climber, Denis, who ran Active Peru.
While Andrea and I had both wall climbed in the past, that had been quite a while ago, and neither of us had rock climbed.
The first day Denis took us up the walls near Chancos, which he referred to as a relatively easy 8m climb. We both found it a bit scary at first, but unwilling to let the other "win", we both made it up on all our climbs except on a tricky "overhang" climb.
Our second day of rock climbing at Bosca de Piedras was much harder and higher (just see the pictures to get an idea of scale!). We managed 3 climbs up, "Touching the Bols" (32m, 5+ rating), "Mellissa" (25m, 5+ rating) and another unnamed route.
At several points we wanted to pull out of the climb, but kept going just one bit more, until eventually we made it to the top. What a great feeling and view!
That night we took the overnighter to Lima ....

Would you trust this face?

Fraser with bike
Before our next climbing session, we had a last day of biking with Julio. We went up the Cordilla Negra again, but this time on a different track. It was mostly single track downhill riding and Fraser managed to stack it on one technical part, but unfortunately Andrea wasn't there to capture the moment on film.Bosca de Piedras
