Sep 28th 2007 to Sep 30th 2007 - Toulouse, France
I found that in Toulouse there isn't too much to see (or lose ... sorry couldn't resist that one), but kept myself occupied by looking around anyway. The city sits by a nice river, and at a point where it forks there is a sizable island on which the stadium sits.
The game at the stadium in question, was NZ vs. Romania on the Saturday. While Romania were once relatively strong in the eighties (The Communist leader Ceauşescu considered rugby very important), their current side a shadow of that bygone era.
After the game we headed into the town to watch the remaining games on TV including one of the shocks of the tournaments, Fiji beating Wales 38-34 and securing themselves a quarter-final spot ... magnificently close game to watch and great the see the Fijians get into the quarters which will mean so much to them given the lack of funding compared to other countries.
After getting horribly lost on the way home to the hotel (and climbing a climbing wall at a circus which was in town) I made it back for a good nights rest, and caught a flight back to London the next day.
City streets of Toulouse
As with the previous weekend, Andrea did not have a ticket for this game, so Fraser headed off France to catch the game with some friends.I found that in Toulouse there isn't too much to see (or lose ... sorry couldn't resist that one), but kept myself occupied by looking around anyway. Haka shot
And so, the All Blacks won the game fairly easily by 85-8 with Romania scoring a well deserved try, and thus the All Blacks had secured the top spot in the pools.
