And back to the usual subject of food, we had some good meals here! One of these was the worlds biggest and best milanesa neopolitana (which I think we have described before) - see image for details! It literally took 6 hours to digest. Crazy!
Another night, we wandered into the residential back streets to find a ´restaurant´ that we had heard did good seafood
From here, as a day trip, we visited Uruguay´s premier resort Punta Del Este. It is a city which sits right on this peninsula. On one half you have fancy high rises and the other you have millionaire´s row with mediterranian style mansions and ferrari´s. The contrast continues with one side of the peninsula offering sheltered swimmingand bathing where the sea meets the River Plato (Craig went for a dip obv) and then the other side is the atlantic which spews out massive waves which crash on the windswept beach.
The best part about our visit to Punta was that Craig thought that according to the guide books he was going to see beautiful women in bikini´s strolling around on the beach, when in fact, given it was midweek and out of season, all he got was old people and crinkly bums! Nae luck Craig!
The other things that Piriapolis brought was rain...all night long. Poor wee tent is soaked and has been put away for the last time this trip. Bye bye canvas, hello solid walls!
