It was time to head for Uruguay for a bit of beach time before heading home so we took the short ferry trip across the water (just over an hour) from BA to Colonia Del Sacramento. We stayed in a cool little hostel in the old part of town and went for a stroll. Colonia is a really charming little place, the old town (the oldest in all of Uruguay in fact) is all cobbled streets and cute little houses, feels quite Spanish. It over looks the River ´Rio de la Plata´ where people go to fish etc. We only really had one evening here, although we are due to return on the way back and so just sort of wandered around and watched the sunset. Back in the hostel it was all you can eat pizza night and wholly crap did they serve up a lotta pizza, never felt so full.
We decided that for the next couple of weeks we would just hop along the coast, visiting the beaches....I´m not sure there is much else to do in Uruguay (I´m sure that´s a sweeping generalisation but after reading the Uruguay bit of our guide book - which in itself is just sort of slotted in the back of the Argentina book - I was none the wiser as to what else to do!) Turns out Uruguay is pretty tiny, only 3.5 million people, most of whom live in the main city Montevideo.
So the next day off we went along the coast......(praying that the 4 day forecast which predicted storms was a LIE)
