Today we left the hotel at 11am and was met by Pauline (Anne and Dave ex-sister in law - the lady we met in Melbourne with them).
She took us to her house, which is lovely and right near the Jade Stadium.... we dropped off our bags and went straight to a Vine Yard to have lunch, sample some wine and meet Pauline's friends. We had a lovely time, it was nice to see her and her friends, the lunch and wine was nice too. We then went to the Antarctic Centre, which is near the airport.... we watched the Penguins being fed, and Stu and I went on the Hagglund Truck....... you go on a 15 minute drive around a course, you go up and down hills that are very very steep.... you then cross a crevasse... a big gap in the Terran... then to finish off you drive into a lake and the truck swims across it... it was so much fun.... we then finished off the day with going into the 'Snow and Ice Experience'... you get kitted out in a warm jacket and you go in a room that had real snow and ice... and you then get blasted with a 40km wind storm... this is classed as a Winter Antarctic Storm... the temp reaches -18c... yes MINUS 18 degrees... it was very cold in there!
We then came back to Pauline's, had a good gossip, watched some sport (oh nearly forgot, I'm glad Williams won the Tennis yesterday, so the ending in Sticky Fingers yesterday). Pauline cooked us a lovely dinner and then I planned with her cat, Ruby, and then we watched more sport..... Well, it is nearly time for the Mens Tennis Final, more later, speak soon.....
