So anyway....the vestal virgins would be chosen before they were 10 years old and if they met their 30 year commitment they could marry. If they didn't make it they were paraded thru the Forum and buried alive with a loaf of bread and a lamp!
After the Forum we went to the Pantheon. The Pantheon became a church after the fall of Rome. It still has all its marble inside and outside. There is a hole at the top of the dome for light and was the largest dome until the Renaissance. The Pantheon has a wonderful piazza with a fountain. We had dinner and meet again for an evening stroll through Rome back to the hotel. We stopped by the Trevi fountain. This is the fountain where you throw 3 coins in the fountain for love, luck, and a return to Rome. I threw the coins and am pretty sure another month long vaca is in my future. :)!!! Walked by the President's house on the way and of course had a gelato.
