Continuing in Florence.....we get to the Boboli Gardens and discover there really are no gardens with flowers! Pretty much hedges and statues and of course stairs to get to the top. Though once at the top there is a wonderful view of Florence, so it was worth ther hike. We make your way down by following any shade we can. By now my face is beet red and I look liker I'm going to explode!
On to lunch with a 45 minute detour as we got lost :( and eventually got back to the bridge and stopped in a tea room/cafeteria. :ad a really good sandwich with delicious bread and mozzarella, tomatoes, and ham. Just over the bridge we spot a gelato stand which we can't pass up....had Black Cherry this time.
On the way back to the hotel we stop at a department store as Mom is in desperate need of a short sleeve shirt. Mission accomplished and it is time for shower number 2 of the day and a nap.
Feeling refreshed after a couple hours we brave the heat to go to the Duomo, but find out it is closed to visitors today. We take a different way back to the hotel and on the way a lovely purse calls my name and it is coming home with me.
Italians don't eat dinner till after 7 so we head out on the terrace with some of the group members before I get to hot again and go back to the air conditioned room. Have a mini-meltdown and pull it together and have dinner at a quiet restaurant by the Uffizi gallery and the back to the hotel for shower number 3 and bed.
