On the bus to Rome....have to get you all caught up!!
Back in Venice....after the amazing Basiclica we walked to the
Riialto bridge and shopping!! Jennifer had recommended a Murano glass jewlery store so Mom and I did some damage there :). After the jewlery store we worked our way to the Frairi Church. This church had. paintings displayed that were commissioned for the church,so they are in their natural setting so to speak. Very beautiful altar pieces and marble carvings.
By this time Steve headed back to the hotel for a siesta....quite common in Italy as many shops close for a couple hours in the afternoon. I head back to St Mark's square in search of a small oil painting to remember Venice by. Found the perfect one with beautiful colors of the buildings, the flowers and the gandola gliding down the canal.
We meet Doug and Tamara for dinner and decide to wander back to the square for the dueling orchestra's and gelato. I have really enjoyed Venice. It is so pretty and inviting to just wander around and people watch.
