Subject: A Different Perpective Part 3
Our first experience on the bus today. It is a regular tour bus,but because we are a group of 28 we can have a row to ourselves and really spread out. The bus driver, Ronny, also provides water, sodas, and beer for the journdy at 1 euro. Very nice!
The first stop before we enter Germany is Arnhem and ther Netherlands largest open air museum. The Dutch found different buildings from the 1600's, took then apart and reassembled in a village setting. You can observe life back in the 1600's. For those that hate to do laundry...laundry was sent out to be done only twice a year! Steve's done some laundry everyday so far! Your laundry would come back to folded exactly so it would foir in you shelves. The laundry had a stick for each family with their cupboard measurements.
Back on the bus to Germany and Bacharach. We stop every 2 hrs for a bathroom break. The bathrooms opr WC's as they are called here are pay toiliets. It is .50 cents and you get a 50 cent coupon to use in the store at the rest stop if you wish. Toliets are also self cleaning. Onced flushed this device comes over the seat and the seat spins around to be cleaned! I have no problem paying 50 cents for a clean bathroom!!
We get to Bacharach.....the cutest German town!! Our hotel is part of the old wall that once circled the town. We have room number 3....just eye level with the 100 or more trains that pass by everyday! I should have called the dr for some serious sleping pills! Actually it wasn't that bad....triple pane windows are amazing! Once we all get our rooms we all take a peak at everyone's room as they are all decorated differently and very unique shapes.
Out to wander around the town. LOts of window boxes full of flowers. Also wine vines growing over door ways and across the streets over head on wires. This town is just what I thought Germany would like to me. Steve say's I look like a local....don't worry I don't know enough German to stay!
The weather has been beautiful and we enjoy a Heifewuessan (beer) on the back patio with a view of the Rhine!
