It was really cold in Atlanta today. It was raining and wet outside, so we decided to stay dry and go on the CNN Studio Tour. Atlanta is one of the major broadcasting stations for CNN. The CNN Center opened in 1976 as a part of the Omni International Hotel Group. The building was once an amusement park that closed in months due to bankruptcy. The building has the largest free-standing escalator in the world. They also have many stores and TBS Partnership stores to promote their shows.

Inside the building, my mom met her former high school classmate by surprise who coaches a basketball team. They talked while my father and I went up to go on the CNN Studio Tour. The tour we went on was limited access and we felt that the tour guide was a bit snobby and didn't want to tell us much or show too many things. The guide said that the building uses about $500,000 worth of electricity a month! We also saw HLN Network on the tour around the building. The CNN Center was cool, but we would probably not go back due to our tour experience. The building also had time-lines and information to help show how CNN was started and built on over the years. Everything seemed to be modernized as well.

It was starting to get late so we headed back to our hotel then walked to a restaurant called Aunt Pitty Pat's. They served lots of Southern food so I ordered the Gumbo soup. It was a bit on the salty side so I enjoyed the salad bar that came with the order. An interesting food was pickled watermelon rind. It was very tasty!

Tomorrow we head back home to San Jose.
