After we left Portage la Prairie, we headed up to Gimli for the afternoon. It is a beautiful little town, right on the coast of Lake Winnipeg. We got to see some Wind Surfers, a ton of boats. The amount of sail boats sitting in the harbour was astounding!  We got to see the Vikings statues, some of the first settlers to appear in Manitoba. After lunch and a tour, we started towards Winnipeg.

As soon as we got to Winnipeg (which was the 30th) we went straight to Uncle Dallas and Aunt Patty's house. The first afternoon we just visited with Uncle Dallas and Aunt Patty and Kaira (who is their daughter and mama’s cousin.)  Camden meet his new girlfriend, Molly. (wait till you see the pictures..) Then, the next day for Canada day, our family and Uncle Dallas went to Assiniboine Park to see what was going on there. In the late afternoon we went to another park in downtown Winnipeg called the Forks to see Niall (Kaira’s brother) play on the saxophone with his group. His group was called retro rhythm review. His group was very good.(Celina)

We spent July 2nd at Grand Beach off lake Winnipeg. It was rated one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.  A title well deserved. It had wonderful white sand and perfect wading. We were able to walk all the way to the buoys, without even swimming.  Papa had a great sunburn, he looked like a tomato. We started burying the kids in the sand, which is much more fun than sand castles. Cam was made to look like a mermaid, but he didn’t know till he saw the pictures. Celina chickened out; we were going to make her look like a smurf, but we only got her feet done.  Papa, getting in the spirit of thing, buried Baby under the letter T (We are trying to teach her to read.) We finally got back, needing a big long sleep after our long day. Some of us were getting quite grumpy.

On the 3rd, (Camden’s Birthday) we travelled all the way from Winnipeg to Kenora, after spending all day shopping and stocking up on supplies. We spent the night in a Wal-Mart parking lot, it being too late to find a proper camping spot. After supper, we preformed the ritual "Happy Birthday” with sixteen candles crammed on a 6 inch cake. Because it was raining and lightning, Papa tried to set up the DVD player, so we could watch Dr. Who. Unfortunately, we weren’t hooked up to a power supply, so he tried to use the lighter adapter instead. Needless to say, we didn’t watch Dr. Who that night. The next morning we found a camping spot, and Papa is now in heaven, fishing off the docks, in the Lake of the Woods lake. (Mercedes)
