Hello again.
Just spent the last 3 days in Taiping, is a little town that daves family hail from. With that fact we stayed with his aunty when we were there, which was really good and gave us a chance to save a bit of money. First day we got there we arrived late then headed off to get some food. We went to a restaurant and amoungst other things that daves aunt ordered was Stingray, was pretty good actually, not that fishy but wicked good!
Next day we headed off to the Zoo, loads of awesome animals and got some good photos (think i might have solved the card problem but the comp isnt allowing photos here). Afternoon we went to try to go up Maxwell Hill, a big ol hill outside of the town that gives awesome views of the area, but it was all booked up, so we went up the next day. In the afternoon of that day we went to the Taiping Club, an old club that was set up by the colonials when we took control. Was well fancy. In the eve we ate there and had something called a 'Steamboat'. It is pretty much just a big bowl of soup/water that you boil then put in what ever you want to eat to cook. We had massive Prawns, chicken, cuttlefish, starfish. And again all of it was awesome. Between the 6 of us who went, we ate what is normally served for 10 people. Was ready to pop afterwards! On the way back we stopped by another of daves uncles, (he has family everywhere) and ate some more food, even though i was fullto the top. We got Lemon chicken, and suprise suprise it was delicious which made eating it not a problem.
Next day we got up at the crack of dawn (she didnt mind) and headed toward Maxwell Hill, we got on the first land rover up and then we set off. Landrover was the only way of getting up the hill, it was so steep and the hairpin turns along the way made the journey to the top an experiance in itself. When we got to the top the views were really picturesque. All that done we headed down the hill and got some more food. Then we met with daves other aunty who we had been going places with and headed toward the coast to see the Mangrove swamps. The wildlife was everywhere, monkeys all over the shop. And i really like monkeys! After this we went back for a bit of a nap then went out for yet more food. This time we had Satay, which was again amazing, the peanut sauce that came with it was good enough to just drink on its own. And best of all was that everything we ate daves family insisted on paying for, no matter how much we said that we would. So we lived for free for 3 days so that was wicked, the things we did were awesome and the generosity of the family was brilliant. Currently we are in the Cameron HIghlands, just got here a few hrs ago.
Keep well and stay safe!
