In September 2002 I was flying back from Bangkok to Dublin, with a stopover in Amsterdam. While waiting in the queue to check-in I noticed another queue for a different flight which was full of hotties. This one was flying to Helsinki, Finland. I was intrigued.
When I went to check-in I was told my flight had been over booked and I was being 'bumped'. However, they had set me up on a different flight home. It was leaving 10 minutes later, but my arrival in Dublin would be 30 minutes earlier. They gave me a 100 euro voucher for this 'inccnvenience'. I was also pleased to hear that this new route home would take me via Helsinki instead of Amsterdam. Sure enough, there were alot of hotties, and I vowed I would make it back to Helsinki for a proper holiday.
The beginning of the next year found the 'Save The Mill' campaign, and when things looked at their most hopeless, a weekend away was planned. I suggested Helsinki and it was agreed. A date that all 8 of us could agree on could not be decided. So Brian and I lied to everyone and said we had booked it for the 4th of July. Left with no choice, everyone realised they could make this. We booked, we went, it was banter. More thumbnails ...
