Where I stayed
Thats what the sign read as i pulled into the middle of nowhere last night at about 6:30. I camped at Daisy state park on a small lake out in the southwest corner of Arkansas. This is an absolutely gorgeous park, until the monsoon came. The monsoon came at about 7:00pm which just so happened to be the time that i was putting the tent up. It was all i could do to keep the tent from blowing away, though i couldn't save the tent bag, the lake took it, god rest it's soul. In anycase i got the tent up in the rain, and opened the door dripping wet to find about 5 gallons of water in the tent. So i ask myself, how do i get 5 gallons of water out of a tent without taking the tent down and pulling the steaks up? You take your overshirt off and sponge it out thats how. This was frustrating. So i finally get everything dry and alright, and try to make myself some freeze dried food, using a head light. Apparently the light on my head was a major attraction for a huge wasp, and he smacked into the light full speed, scaring the bejesus out of me
I'm currently updating from a Radisson hotel lobby in Fayetteville Arkansas, and i'll leave here driving to Osage Beach Missouri as soon as i'm done.
There are also some pics on this entry of the road to this desination just fyi
Here are some statistics for the trip so far:
Miles Traveled - 1,631
Tanks of Gas - 5
Pictures taken - 143
Times gotten lost - 1
The road through Arkansas and the Ozark Mountains up I-540 is really pretty incredible. There have been several times that i've caught myself doing 15 below the speed limit because i'm looking out over the mountains and valleys in awe. Again i've got some pictures of these too, but the pics dont do justice.
I'll try to keep updating regularly, i have knowledge of a hotspot in osage beach where i'm headed, and in bloomington where i'll be going next. More pictures on the way hopefully.
