Wanaka
I only had a couple of days in wanaka, so I needed to make the most of them and make the most of the pant wettingly scary activities and pursuits on offer! So after some careful deliberation, I opted for the ´Siberian experience´ for the first day! This started out with a light aircraft trip, (which I'm sure I saw them refueling with logs!!!) you know the type of small propeller plane? the on that buddy holly just got off? yeah well one of them, Which flew us over the Siberian glacier, and then landed on a piece of grass in the valley, the size of your average English back garden. The pilot then points towards a river, lobs a stone in it, and tells us to head for that stone otherwise ´´the river will take you´´ !!! then hops back in his magnificent flying machine, and fucks off!!! thanks captain! Anyway, obviously I didn't drown, unless this blog is being ghost written, which is highly unlikely. But it was a pretty cool tramp as they call hiking in NZ (dunno why, to me it sounds like your out hunting homeless people when you go out ´tramping´!). We ´tramped´ for 3 hours through the valley and down to the foot of a river, where a good old classic New Zealand Jet boat was waiting to pick us up! What a trip... these things move... really move... so fast that when the cap of the guy sitting in front of me flew of and smacked me in the face it nearly broke my nose!!! The lunatic driving, seemed to know what he was doing, spinning it around, and racing under trees with only a Nat's cock to spare. Well either that or he had just stolen it, but all the same, it was great fun!!! Great scenery, great experience, scary plane ride!
Canyoning
Now this is something I've always wanted to do... There's not many places in the world you can do it, maybe a couple in Europe, but then NZ is THE place. Basically, it involves getting to the top of a huge canyon. Putting a harness on, and then climbing, jumping and abseiling down it... Except heres the kicker...this canyon ´big nige` as its called, has got a river running down it... I say running, its more like broken damn kind of gushing! So after about 5 mins practice of abseiling on a piece of grass, your lead to what looks like a 50m sheer drop, with a waterfall the size of Niagara tipping off the top... So a nice gentle introduction then!!! OK then... In for a penny in for a pound... ´´ill go first`` I heard someone say... Fuck, that was me... So I hook on, lean back ad start abseiling. all going well until you hit the waterfall. its hard to put into word the feeling of a: cacking you pants that your 50m over a cliff with nothing but a bit of rope holding you on and b: being smashed in the face with water so cold and fierce that it strips the bark of trees, and the scales off fish!!! What a rush!!! gimme more... Well there was more... plenty more.. It took nearly a full day to get down the canyon. with lots of abseiling, and a few awesome jumps.. One was 12.5 metres high, which doesn´t sound alot, but when your up there, thats high!!! thats like nearly 40ft. And its not into a swimming pool, its into a rock pool, a rock pool about 2m wide. and you cant miss it. well you can, but you would wanna, trust me! What a day. one of the best things I have ever done. Every minute of it was fun and fucking fucking scary.
