I only had a day in Chennai (Madras) and I was pretty lucky I did because the day before I arrived that had had some pretty serious flooding, which had killed dozens of people. Alot of the city was still under water, and it stopped me from going out and doing anything. It's also an alcohol free state, so it wasn't exactly gonna be a party. The Ramada Plaza, the concierge, the Asian movie channel 'star movies' and the room service was a welcome luxury for my last night in India...
On reflection I had an absolutely amazing time in India. There were times when it was tough and there were times when it was lonely. But on the whole there were some of the most culturally different experiences I have ever had, and I don't think I've ever been to a more extreme country that can be so busy and chaotic but at the same time be so calm and relaxing. I love India and I can't wait to go back.
