Hated, hated, and hated what more can I say? Unfortunately we started running a little short on time so we didn't have time to visit Malaysia. We realised this in Cambodia so we booked a flight from Phuket to Singapore. We stayed in Phuket town which is dirty and there's very little to do. The most exciting thing we did was post some things back home which says it all. However the hostel we were staying in was certainly interesting...

We were on the first floor of  the hostel where rooms or cells you could call them were separated by half partition walls which didn't reach up to the ceiling therefore not blocking any noise from anywhere on the floor. That wasn't the biggest problem though the floor the built on floorboards which ran the length of the whole floor and so when you lay in bed and someone walked anywhere on the floor, you bounced up and down as your bed shook with the force of the footstep. And before you ask we weren't staying in a fat camp or anything like that, even my non-obese stature had the same affect. All in all it made for a great night's sleeps every night.

Of course the first night, we were awoken by something else. One guest had mistakenly or on purpose let a group of prostitutes and their pimp into the hostel. With the walls on the hostel the way they were we heard most of what went on and tried to piece together a storyline. They all had a loud conversation for a bit before the pimp the tried to strike a price for his "workers". The group of guys either naively had not realised the situation/ got cold feet/ objected to the high price, didn't agree with the pimp and told them to leave.  The pimp and girls refused, cue a loud shouting match between the two groups (Marie Therese told me to stay out of it; we weren't really sure what was going on at this stage).  Eventually the group left possibly supplemented with a few baht for their trouble. Oh all this time people were walking up and down the floor so we were shaking along with them.

Our flight to Singapore wasn't without a few issues namely every other flight we had an allowance of twenty kg but because of this one being an internal flight we were only allowed fifteen kg. We had to wear a lot of clothes on that flight and still had to pay a little for excess baggage.
