Arrived in Ho Chi Minh or Saigon as the locals call late that day but quickly found a place to stay. The area of Pham Ngu Lao is really a copy of Khao San in Bangkok with plenty of backpacker places and cheap restaurants.
The next day we set off walking to a main sights of Saigon. Walked up to the Reunification palace which had just closed but to be honest wasn't that bothered it didn't looked that fancy having been rebuilt in the 1960s when the Vietnamese army bombed it to try and kill their own president. Instead we walked a little further and went to the Rearmants Musuem. Outside were American planes and tanks that had obviously been "emancipated" but inside were exhibitions and mostly photographs of the war. For the first time in Vietnam we moved by some of the photos as they showed battlescenes from American photographers and harrowing photographs of injuries sustained by the Vietnamese population.

The next day we headed on a tour to the Cu Chi tunnels. They are system of tunnels that the Vietnamese used against the Americans. Climbed into a couple of tunnels, one where it was a small hole in the ground just wide enough to fit through and the second was a pitch dark tunnel where everyone crawled for a few minutes till we found the exit. You wouldn't want to be in anyway claustropic.
As this being Vietnam the land of entreprenuelism they also offered to let everyone shoot an AK-47. As it's something you don't really do day to day, I decided to give it a go. After doing it I wondered one thing, how do people have any hearing after shooting the things. They were deefening. And no I wasn't shooting at anyone but at a target I don't even know if I hit that, bullets move quite quickly.

As we were worried about the length of time we had spent in Vietnam, we decided to get a bus the next day to Phnom Penh in Cambodia.
