I left Grenada at 6:05 am for my 4 hour journey to Dominica. On my way to the 'Nature Island' Dominica we made two stops. Firstly Barbados then St Lucia. I only stayed in Barbados for an hour so I had to remain in transit (couldn't leave the airport). The name of the airport is Grantley Adams International Airport, who happened to be the first Prime Minister of the island. I hadn't been to Barbados since 2005 and when I was last there the airport was under construction. This time I was able to admire the airport's new sparkling interior. The building was nice but I wouldn't spoil my experience by speaking about the immigration officers who seem to think that they are above God.
Never the less, Barbados is one of my favorite Caribbean islands because it boasts some of the most beautiful white coral sands and turquoise beaches. I have to say that all of the Bajans (as natives of Barbados are called) that I know (other than the immigration officers) are very friendly people. Unfortunately I have no nice pics of the beach but I have a pic of one of our local airlines that I traveled on called 'Caribbean Star' and a pic of the newly refurbished airport. My view is only from the runway as photographs were not allowed in many areas of the main terminal. St Lucia next...
