Singapore proved much more interesting and entertaining than expected. We had 2 full days here and chose to stay in Kallang, which is more than a walk from the centre. However the excellent MRT (Metro) made it easy and cheap to get around. Also all the signage and metro announcements are in English.
We followed the well trodden tourist route through Little India and Chinatown. In Little India we spent a couple of hours in Mustafa's 24 hour department store were very pleased to be able to get some padded cycle shorts for our cycle trip in Vietnam. It felt like we were back at Trago Mills! Mustafa's also has a great restaurant on the top floor were we stopped for a while.
In the evening we dropped in at a great music/light show at Bayfront, put on free of charge twice nightly.
Tuesday 8th April
We took the MRT to the Singapore Post office where we were able to get stamps for post cards AND post them. You wouldn't believe just how difficult this usually proves to be. Then we took a 135 bus to the East Coast Park where we hired some bikes for a couple of hours and had a dip in the Singapore Strait.
