Where I stayed

The drive inland from Haast to Wanaka took us through some glorious countyside and between two beautiful (but windy) lakes.

Tuesday 25th February
Lake Wanaka is a glacial lake with steep mountains enclosing the lake and a broad fertile plain.

We took a hike up to Roys Peak - 3 hours up (like Barbican Hill all the way - no steps) and 2 hours down. At the conclusion our legs were reduced to jelly (again) but the views were well worth it.

Wednesday 26th February

Before departing on the 4 hour drive to Te Anau we stopped for a paragliding experience. In turn Marian and I stepped off the mountain 800 meters above the land below and literally flew for 20 minutes. Of course we had help. We were strapped to an experienced para glider and his rig.
