I was awake just before my 5.15 alarm this morning and made Richard a cup of coffee before gently awakening him from his slumber. I then returned to my room (just thought that needed proper clarification) and had a quick shower before packing my kit. I didn't get to sleep until the early hours as I was making the most of the internet access at the flat and managed to Skype call a few people prior to at long last setting off.

We were all loaded up by just after 6 and having dropped the keys off for the flat (one less thing to carry) we were on our way. It's the first time I've left Delhi - via the east - in several years but by 7.30 we were in Noida. I cannot believe how much has changed in only a few years. The metro now reaches out there and the high rise apartment blocks are springing up on what was once farmland and peoples modest homes. It made me wonder how the land was sold and if those living and working there were compensated? I think that highly unlikely and can only guess where those families have now gone.

The riding was going well so I suggested to Rich that we take a slight detour to Kutchesar and visit the lovely Mud Fort. This used to be one of my favourite weekend breaks from Delhi but the drive there wasn't always the best. From there we went 'off roading' (brilliant) along the canal towards Raj Ghat so Rich could visit the Ganges and maybe see a funeral service being conducted. It was a monday morning and business was obviously quite slow so he had to make do with the market and sights (and monkeys). A few years back I had the immense privilege to see a freshwater dolphin just north of this area. They are extremely rare in the world and amazingly they live in the Ganges which doesn't always look that clean.

From here we carried on riding and finally stopped in Bareilly deciding to call it a day. It's been a very hot and sweaty journey and we're both in need of a cold beer and some scoff. Both bikes performed well today but I've had to adjust the head bearings yet again - I think the road condition might be causing them some issues, or it could be the way I ride I guess?

Total mileage for today was 300kms.

Whilst riding along today I also thought of a blog based competiton I could run ................guess the mileage I'm going to cover on this trip. 5 English pounds a guess and the closet wins. How easy is that! Please send cash in an envelope to my folks place and when I return I'll work out the winner. The prize will be dinner with me - who could ask for more!

Obviously the winner - by complete fluke - will be a tall leggy blonde single female. As per all scams sorry competitions (like this) my decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered in to. I can't be fairer than that surely. Please ensure all entries on a postcard contain full personal details.

I'll hopefully load up some photos when I have wifi access as currently it's too hot and difficult to do in this internet cafe.

I'll update when next able.
