The 'plan' was to have a few drinks and catch up as I'd last seen them after I'd not long arrived in Delhi. Suffice to say they both enjoyed the live band that was playing and before you knew it we were all up and dancing.
In my slightly refreshed state I thought my dancing was superb but then realised - with the help of the massive screen displaying the partygoers - that I was more like John Wayne than Travolta
Mona requested the band play 'GNR' for their last covered song and before you could say 'anyone fancy a curry?' the air guitars were out and sweet child of mine was being sung by everyone. If you're a child of the 80's and into big hair and rock bands of the era you'll love India!
Then came the dj and we carried on until the early hours. A top tastic night out indeed.
Sunday was meant to be a bike prepping day but the monsoon - which clearly didn't end Saturday - stopped me from heading off in search of new handlebars. I brought out reinforced hand guards from the UK but the standard bars have metal bar end weights pressed in which prevent me from using them. Back home it'd be a simple task but over here you need to know where to go and who to speak to. On Friday I did manage to locate a man with a drill but that didn't quite go to plan and the plugs are still in situ
My task today was making a start on one of the leaky roof structures and I managed to do a reasonable amount of work but I struggle in the heat. It's no longer summer but the temperature is still about 33 - 35 and it's not long before I'm seeking an ac office to hide in for a while. The dome structure and position on the roof is slightly scary and as I can't walk on the dome (it'll collapse) I have a choice of walking on the canopy edge to get all the way around. I'm not sure when it happened (maturity) but I today decided not to risk it and ask for help. I just have this image of pitching off and falling to the ground below. That'll be the end of any bike riding for quite some time I'm sure - let alone another meeting with doctor '15 minutes no pain' etc!
Anyway, Richard 'loose motions' Evans will arrive on Thursday and once we've his bike sorted and he's had a couple of days to settle in we'll be on our way. I for one can't wait to see yet more of the countryside and coastline of this beautiful yet crazy country.
If you're reading this Mr E, please don't forget my pre ordered presents. You know I like you really ; -)
Fickle? Me? How very dare you!
