Simon: Hi! right, so Washington DC is amazing! there is loads and loads and loads and TONS to see and do, and best of all, it's all FREE! we didn't spend 1 cent on tourist stuff, and i think we spent about $50 between us in 4 days!
First day we went to all the places on the Mall in DC. We walked there from our first hostel because it only took like 15 minutes. On the walk down we saw the FBI building, and we nearly missed it! The first proper thing we did was the Capitol building on Capitol Hill. It was so weird because i'm only used to seeing it on TV, and it was right there in front of me! it's much bigger than it looks, and inside was amazing, even Flo thought so!!

Flo: Yeah it was pretty amazing! lol! :) Lots of policemen!

Simon: Then after the Capitol, we walked down the Mall towards the Washington Monument. We checked out the World War II memorial (cool), the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (cooler) and the Korean War Memorial (coolest). The Korean Memorial had like life sized soldier statues walking thru the park, and they looked so awesome, and we got some pretty good pictures of those. Then we went to see Abraham Lincoln (or the 20ft statue of him) at the Lincoln Memorial. It was just as cool as on TV, and all the American tourists were like nearly crying, they loved it so much! lol! it was pretty awesome. Next we went back to the Washington Monument, and had a (free) tour inside and up to the top, which Flo didn't like very much!!

Simon: It only seemed really high because their's nothing else around even remotely as tall! Check the pictures of that, there's some of the Pentagon and stuff.

Next, whilst humming 'Hail to the Chief' (well I was) we went to the White House! It was so strange to see such an iconic place right in front of me! We were being tracked by the snipers on the roof, and they kept popping up for a walk around! We saw Air Force 2 (the helicopter) land, but i don't think it was Barrack, maybe just Joe Biden or somethin.

Anyways after ALL of that on the first day, our feet hurt, and we'd walked around 8 miles!!!! :O We'd earnt a sleep!

Flo: Same as above!!! LOL

After my little feet had recovered and my heat rash had calmed down - It's so HOT here! - we spent day 2 in the nice Air Conditioned Museums. The Natural History Museum, Air & Space Museum and the National Archives. Air & Space was BORING! even Simon thought so!

Simon: It wasn't THAT bad, but we only stayed for like 45 minutes! It was a bit dated.

Flo: The Natural History Museum was the best one, we saw the Oceans & Mammals, and Simons Fave; the Dinosaurs, and the Hope Diamond (see the pictures)

Then the National Archives which was cool, because we'd just watched 'National Treasure' on TV, so I knew what was going on! lol!! Simon liked that one lots too. We saw the Declaration of Independance and the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and a really big shoe!! (Shaq's, the basketballer)

Then we went to our new hostel, which was really super. it was like a big American house, with like 12 bedrooms and a hammock outside and we met some really nice Germans, Australians, Austrians and a weird old Canadian man! lol!!

Simon: Day 3 we started in the US Holocaust Museum, which was really good, and we spent like 3 hours there. They had some bunks from Auschwitz, and a train car that carried the Jews to Belsen, and lots of shoes and coats and stuff. The videos were really good too, about Hitlers rise to power and propaganda.

Then we went to the American History Museum. It was OK, but because we're not American a lot of it didn't really mean as much as it did to the Americans, and it was a saturday, so all the popular exhibitions were rammed, like the ruby slippers from the Wizard of Oz, and the First Ladies exhibit. Plus in some of the places you couldn't take photos, like the Star Spangled Banner exhibit and the Ruby slippers.

In the afternoon we went to DC National Zoo (Which was also free!) and saw the totally awesome Giant Pandas and Elephants and the fattest Hippo EVER! it was swimming around right in front of us! We got lots of pictures in the zoo, mainly because Flo had the camera a bit more than usual!

Flo: Washington was much better than Miami, much more to see and do, and much cheaper! and our first nights hostelling were great, and i'm looking forward to doing lots more :)

Simon: It was better than Miami, and I loved all the Museums and the history. It was weird because it wasn't busy AT ALL, even on Saturday, the only place that was busy was the American History museum. The subway was pretty much empty, and we didn't wait in line for anything really.

We'd both recommend DC to anyone going anywhere near the US. Excellent.

Next stop; Baltimore!
