Waking up a little groggy after our operatic excesses of the night before (and after a poor night's sleep - camping surrounded by walls = no breeze to keep you cool), we had a relaxing start to the day, ambling down the stairs to the down and enjoying a leisurely breakfast. This set the tone for the whole day really - bouts of sightseeing and shopping seperated by sitting at an outdoor table for another sprizze/espresso/ice cream. Verona is a great little town to walk round, and the locals take full advantage of this - parading around in their finery like only the Italians know how. The main shopping street at times became a veritable river of Gucci.

One of the most popular and strangest attractions of Verona is Juliet's balcony. Obviously Shakespeare pretty big deal here but the fact remains that we're talking about a fictional character here. Still, that doesn't stop hordes of people swarming into the tiny courtyard and adding to the endless graffiti, regardless of the fact that what they're photographing is the balcony of a house in which the family Juliet's may have been based on once live. Although apparently its the wrong family, anyway.

A little footsore from a days wandering, we retire to a great little restaurant where Tess had eated previously here and had what must be one of the best meals we've eaten on the whole trip - wholesome traditional Italian cooking done deliciously and served with charm. Nice to enjoy the good side of Italy for once...
